we are iowa " nikki: good evening. welcome to local 5 news, i'm nikki davidson. two teenagers are recovering after they were shot outside of a mcdonald's. nikki: it happened last night at the restaurant on southwest state street at about 10:30 in ankeny. a des moines man is accused of shooting two young men after a dispute over poor behavior at the restaurant. police were called to a report of shots fired. when they arrived, they found 18 year olds nicholas culver and justin (phong-sav-von) phongsavanh with gunshot wounds to their arms. they were taken to a des moines hospital... culver was released this afternoon. phongsavanh is still in serious but stable.. condition. the suspect took off in his car with a woman.. about a half hour later, 36 year old gabriel coco turned himself in to police, he was released from the polk county jail, but faces two felony counts of willful injury. the investigation is ongoing. nikki: a jasper county inmate has taken his own life while in jail... it happened yesterday evening...inmates in the man's pod noticed 23 year old michael

what are jurors going to be considering, nikki?er: jurors are going to be considering a lot. the one thing they will not be considering is the insanity defense. that's because charles severance' defense attorneys did not use that at all. in fact, they maintained he is 100% innocent. the jury got the case late so they decided collectively to begin deliberations this morning. a lot has happened up until this point so let's give you a quick recap. charles severance is accused of killing three prominent members of the alexandria community over the past 11 years. nancy dunning, ruthanne lodato and ron kirby. the prosecution says severance airported the city of alexandria and blamed them -- hated the city of der ya and blamed them. they said the murders were too similar to be called a coincidence. they happened in the same neighborhood around the same time. the defense points to the lack of evidence linking severance to any of the crime, especially the murder weapons which are all missing although the prosecution did find ammunition at s

nikki? >> reporter: that's the thing. federal investigators aren't telling us exactly how this happened except that there was a glitch in these computers that caused them to crash. but here's the scary part. that glitch has to do with the computers that check incoming passengers into the united states against the terror watch list. this all happened last night at about 8:30. yes, it has all been fixed but not before it worried a lot of people. terrorism and security glitch, two words you do not want to hear together. the system crashed at about 8:30 and it's been fixed. it was down for about an hour and a half. but not before long lines and delays just put flied. even -- multiplied. even those automated kiosks were down, airport officials were still able to manually check people in which as you can imagine is a very tedious process. it's not clear what caused the crash but a spokesperson with customs and border patrol said that does not appear to be malicious in nature. live at dulles airpor

nikki? according to the police report, officers were dispatched there for a the report of suspicious activity. it happened around 4415 yesterday afternoon. a woman was running on the trail near cedar bend park when she says a man pulled the hood on her sweatshit over her eyes. she says he then pulled her off the trail and tried to sexually she was able to get away and ran home. police are still investigating this incident. you may remember also in waterloo, in july a woman was attacked on the trail inside george wyth state park. police say she was attacked from behind, dragged into the wood and assaulted. she was later found by people camping there. so far no arrests have been made in that attack and it's unclear if there is a connection between these two attacks. and in cedar rapids, earlier this month police say the woman was jogging on the cedar laa trail when she says a man tried to push her toward a wooded area.. the man later took off after the woman alerted another runner. police are
